Project Description:
In 2023, Dessy Agro collaborated with three organized farmer cooperatives in the Uyo and Oron areas of Akwa Ibom State to deliver over 24,000 premium-quality sprouted Tenera oil palm seedlings. The supply was executed through a group purchase arrangement, enabling smallholder farmers to benefit from shared logistics and discounted pricing.
Beyond the seedling delivery, our team provided tailored technical support, including planting demonstrations, spacing guidelines, and field management best practices. Farmers also received training materials and participated in group sessions to enhance their transplanting success and early-stage palm care.
Outcome:
The project improved access to improved seedlings, strengthened community farming efforts, and laid the foundation for higher productivity across cooperative farms in the region. It showcased the value of teamwork and localized agricultural support.
